Three families have begun the new year on a very sad note after three of their kin perished on Lake Victoria on the evening of Saturday, December 31.
The trio, who were students at the University of Nairobi were on a boat expedition before it capsized at the Mulokoba Waterfront in Budalangi, Busia county.
According to the police, the fatalities were in the company of four other people who were rescued from the tragedy.
Bunyala Sub-county police commander Isaiah Mose confirmed the incident.
The process to locate the bodies began immediately before it got suspended after darkness kicked in.
