He passed on Monday morning undergoing medication in Nairobi.

Uganda's first deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Kadaga announced his death.

"It is with great sadness that I announce the death of H.E Dr Galiwango, High Commissioner of Uganda to Kenya, which occurred this morning," she said.

Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua condoled the family of Galiwango, Uganda's president and government for the loss.

"My condolences to the President, Government and the people of Uganda on the passing of Ugandan High Commissioner to Kenya, Dr. Hassan Wasswa Galiwango, who passed away this morning in Nairobi Hospital. My deepest sympathies to his family. Rest In Peace Ndugu," he said in a tweet.

Before becoming a High Commissioner, Galiwango was a former long-serving director of finance and administration at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretariat.
