Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday evening held a meeting with popular Mugithi singer Muigai WA Njoroge.
The meeting also saw the singer's wife Njeri Muigai attend.
Gachagua in a statement said they addressed the raising cases of alcohol and drug abuse in the Mt Kenya region.
He said the vice has been on the rise in the region and together, they shared thoughts on how they can handle the matter.
"This evening, I held a lengthy discussion with renowned Musician and Motivational Speaker Muigai wa Njoroge, over the escalating Alcohol and Drug Abuse in the country. This menace has turned our young men and women into zombies, killing their productivity," the DP said.

"He shared his thoughts on various interventions to arrest this unfortunate situation, which is threatening to clear an entire generation."
Muigai wa Njoroge is one of the Mt Kenya singers who publicly campaigned for President William Ruto.
He composed songs that backed Ruto presidency even as some castigated former president Uhuru Kenyatta and his preferred Successor Raila Odinga.
The talks on alcohol came days after Gachagua censured Mt Kenya Governors over what he termed as over licensing of bars.
Gachagua said many bars are destroying the future of many youths by selling alcohol 24 hours, a move he said must be visited.
President William Ruto also weighed on the matter and even said there is a need to reduce the number of bars selling alcohol 24 hours to one in major towns to avert the crisis.
