KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome warned students that they will not fund such students.

Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has warned that 2022 KCSE students who will apply for TVET courses in universities will miss state funding.

Speaking to Citizen TV on Monday morning, Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome said they will only fund those students who will apply for courses in TVET institutions.

"So I needed to make that correction that there are TVETS within the Universities, and we have TVETS under the Ministry of Education. So if you decide to take a TVET course within a university, you will finance yourself," she said.

According to Wahome, some universities which do offer degree courses have TVET institutions among them.

She said students will not be blocked from applying for courses in those institutions and in case they do, they will not be granted scholarships.

"We have some universities that are offering Diploma and Certificate courses, so they have what we call TVET schools within the Universities. So those will not receive the scholarships, but they will be there for students to see and choose," Wahome said.

She said they will only fund TVET institutions that are under the Ministry of Education.

He said TVET institutions that are under the Ministry of Education are the Technical Training Institutes (TTIs) and the National Polytechnics, which are about 200 of them.
