Infamous Bungoma-based pastor Eliud Wekesa who has christened himself Yesu wa Tongaren has been summoned by police.
Wekesa confirmed the summon on Monday saying he had been summoned by Bungoma County Commander Francis Kooli.
He said he was instructed to appear before him for questioning on Wednesday.
“Maybe they have heard things that don’t exist about me. I have been to the OCPD and OCS and they had no issue against me. My work is to only preach the gospel,” he said.
“I am confident the police commander who has summoned me is a human being with wisdom. I am meant to understand he wants to talk to me about issues to do with my church and how I am running it.”

Wekesa is the leader of the New Jerusalem church.
The summon came in the wake of the government's commitment to dealing with unscrupulous religious leaders who are using their powers to mislead their followers.
President Ruto recently appointed a commission of Inquiry which has also been tasked with weeding out rogue churches.
The commission will also inquire into the factors that lead to the rise of that particular religious extremist institution and other formations that foster negative religion-based activities.
