President William Ruto on Wednesday evening left the country for France to attend the Global Pact Finance Summit.
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said the summit seeks to reimagine the global finance system and foster the creation of a more inclusive financial architecture.
"President Ruto strongly advocates for a new architecture for international financial institutions that is equitable, inclusive, and adequate in financing sustainable development together with climate action," he said in a statement.
Hussein added that the Head of State will use the summit to present bold proposals for the establishment of a new Multilateral Climate Finance Institutional Architecture.
"Kenya, Africa, and the Global South at large continue to face significant adverse effects of climate change, despite contributing the least to global warming and having the lowest emissions," he said.

"President Ruto will underscore the urgent need to move beyond incremental measures that fall short of effectively combating the climate crisis and fail to generate investment benefits for Africa."
He added:
"Kenya’s contribution at the summit seeks to define a strong African position that will be developed further during the Africa Climate Summit scheduled to take place from September 4 to 6 in Nairobi."
President Ruto's foreign trips have raised concerns in recent times owing to the billions of shillings they consume.
This is after it was realised that Ruto spent more on travel than his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta.
But the government has defended the trips saying they are intended to consolidate resources for the development of the country.
