More than fifty people are feared dead and several others injured after a grisly road accident that occurred at Londiani junction along the Nakuru-Kericho highway.
The 6:30 PM accident after a truck lost control and ran over pedestrians and rammed more than six vehicles.
One of the doctors on duty at Londiani Hospital Dr. Collins Kipkoech confirmed that they had received over 45 bodies in the hospital.
In an update by Kenya Red Cross, more than 20 casualties have been evacuated to Londiani, Molo Sub-County, Nakuru County, Kericho Referral Hospital, and Nakuru Level Five Hospital.
"The response has been interrupted by heavy rainfall and people are still trapped in wreckages," Kenya Red Cross said in a statement.

Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen said that rescue efforts were ongoing by different government agencies.
"Rescue efforts are underway involving officers from various agencies of national and county governments, elected leaders, the Redcross and other well-wishers. More information will be shared with the public. The rescue efforts will be followed by investigations to determine the cause of the crash.
"I take this opportunity to condole with the families, friends of the bereaved, and wish quick recovery to those injured following this tragic incident," part of the statement by Murkomen read.
