The Nairobi Hospital CEO James Nyamongo has recounted the last moments of their Acting Finance Director Eric Maigo.
Maigo was found dead at his house in Woodley, Nairobi, on September 15 with his body reported to have had 25 stab wounds. The suspect in the murder has been arrested.
Nyamongo in an interview with Citizen TV said he interacted with Maigo on September 14 during which he made a wonderful presentation.
The two were to meet on September 15 but that never came to happen.
"It is very perplexing to us because I was the last person with him on his last day at work, on September 14. I interacted with him when we had a board meeting of the hospital’s Finance and Investments Committee where Maigo made an impressive presentation," Nyamongo said.

"We were to meet the following day but that day he never came. It was disheartening to find that Eric was no more yet I was with him 12 hours ago."
According to Nyamongo, Maigo is one of the staff he recruited to help him transform the Nairobi Hospital.
"When I joined the Nairobi Hospital, I was the one who recruited him and he has been my right-hand person, especially in the execution of financial matters," he said.
He says the news of his death has been devastating to the Nairobi Hospital even though they are working on ensuring the wellness of staff affected by the development.
"This has been a very difficult moment for the family of the Nairobi hospital. All of us are saddened by the murder of this gentleman who was one of the best staff I have ever worked with," he said
"It has been very difficult but we thank God we have been having counsellors who have been working to enable our staff to understand the situation."
Maigo will be buried at their home in Keumbu, Kisii County on Friday, September 29.
Nyamongo said they are following up on the case to ensure the cause is established.
"I would like to send my condolences to the family of Eric Maigo, that is Mzee Onchari and the entire family. We are with him. As the story unfolds we are keen on knowing what is the cause," Nyamongo said.
