The mother of a suspect linked to the murder of The Nairobi Hospital Finance Director Eric Maigo has spoken.
Multiple reports accessed by Nairobi Leo indicate that the suspect was at her mother's residence around 11 p.m. on September 14, hours before the body of Maigo was discovered with stab wounds.
Her mother, who spoke from their home in Kibera slums, said she had a heated argument with her over food.
Kaa tuu uko nje nimalizane ndo urudi," she said.

"Saa mimi nikapika chakula ikaiva, ako tuu huko nje. Kumaliza akakuja akapata tumemaliza kukula. Nikaona ameshaingia anafunga mlango. Akaingia akatoa mattress. Mimi nikaacha kama nimejua mtu anataka kulala. Mimi nikalala nikawachana na yeye."
After retreating to her bedroom to sleep, the mother says she realised the teenager was missing in the morning.
But even as police act on the case to establish what happened between her and Maigo and the relationship that existed between them, the mother has said the daughter never had a phone.
The suspect was arraigned on Wednesday at Milimani Law Courts during which police obtained 21 days to hold the suspect pending investigations.
Maigo will be laid to rest at his home in Keumbu, Kisii County.
