Three detectives were injured on Sunday, October 8, while pursuing a notorious thug in Kasarani, Nairobi County.
In an update by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday morning, the three officers are recuperating at Nairobi Hospital.
DCI boss Mr Mohamed Amin paid the three officers a visit to see how they were fairing after sustaining gunshot wounds.
"The three officers, who are responding well to treatment, were on a mission to recover a firearm from a notorious thug in Kasarani when they came under a hail of fire," part of the statement by DCI read.
According to DCI, the officers managed to recover the firearm, a Ceska pistol and fatally wounded the attacker.

At the same time, DCI officers last week arrested one of Nairobi’s infamous gold scammers Jonathan Okoth Opande alias Okoth Magawi.
Opande also known as Chairman/Kiongozi was ejected from a Kisumu-bound KQ flight by detectives who had gotten wind of his last-minute travel itinerary.
The suspect, who unsuccessfully contested the Nyakach Parliamentary seat in the last General Elections is wanted in connection to a case where he defrauded two Thai nationals over SH13 million in a fake gold deal.
