The TIMS portal is currently unavailable as the authority integrates services to the E-Citizen platform.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has counselled individual motorists and organisations in its directory to align their E-Citizen accounts in the course of migration of services to the E-Citizen platform.
The Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) portal was disabled to allow the integration of services there into E-Citizen.
The agency urged its clients to update their E-Citizen accounts through which they will be served upon the completion of the services transfer.
"The TIMS platform is currently unavailable to the public due to the ongoing migration and integration to enable access to all services using the E-Citizen single sign-on. In the meantime, we urge all our clients to validate their E-Citizen accounts (Personal and organizational)," said the agency.
NTSA notified motorists that the TIMS portal would be shut down between December 29, 2023, and January 1, 2024.
From Tuesday, January 2, only E-Citizen login credentials (Username and Password) will be used to access NTSA services.
Meanwhile, NTSA has proposed new charges expected to be rolled out in January 2024.
The Safety Authority proposed an increase of up to 900 percent for services to fund its budget deficit amounting to over Ksh2.3 billion.
In the proposed changes, the road service licenses for public service vehicles will increase by 98 percent as a road license for a PSV with between 6-8 passengers moves from Ksh2,700 to Ksh.5,400 with that of PSV with 26 passengers hitting Ksh8,900.
If actualised, the inspection charges will also go up to Ksh2,000 from Ksh1,000 for heavy commercial vehicles exceeding 5 tons.
Registration of vehicles below 1000cc will increase from Ksh1700 to Ksh3400 while those 3001 and above cc will pay Ksh16,600 up from Ksh8,300.
However, NTSA noted that the new charges would be subjected to public participation before being adopted.
