Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has called off his soccer tournament in Meru County after he was cautioned by Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi.
Dubbed the Moses Kuria Cup tournament, the sporting competition starting on February 4 this year would have brought teams from 64 constituencies in the larger Mt Kenya region.
According to Kuria, the aim of the tournament would be to s to promote peace and positive values in the region.

It was however objected to by a section of Meru residents led by Aburi, who claimed the CS was working in cahoots with Governor Kawira Mwanganza to fleece the county monies.
Aburi also claimed that the tournament was being used to divert attention from the murder of Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper.
They vowed to prevent the tournament, vowing to use stones if need be.
"You have organised the tournament with the Meru governor to divert attention from seeking justice for Sniper. Moses Kuria does not be, going to you, you bring the tournament, we bring stones," said Aburi.
Scared by the threats, Kuria announced putting off his tournament in the Meru part of Mt Kenya.
"After consultations with the FKF leadership and for the sake of safety and security of players, we have excluded the 9 Meru Constituency Clubs from the tournament," said Kuria.
