President William Ruto has recalled to public service two renowned figures who had a stint in the public service in previous years.
The appointment of Francis Muthaura and Charles Nyachae into their respective posts was gazetted by the president.
In the issue published on January 10, Muthaura will assume the post of the Chancellor of Kenyatta University effective immediately.
He will be at the helm of the Thika Road-based tertiary institution for a period of five.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 38 (1) (a) of the Universities Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Muthaura to be the Chancellor for a period of five years," read the president's notice.

Muthaura had a long stint in public service, having served as the Head of Public Service in the late Mwai Kibaki's administration.
On his part, Nyachae, a son of renowned veteran Kisii politician and former minister, Simeon Nyachae, was appointed to serve as the Chairperson of the Council of the Kenya School of Government for a period of one year.
Nyachae served as the chair of the Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution (CIC) of Kenya.
The CIC team was charged with ensuring the smooth implementation of the 2010 Constitution.
