Former Bongwe-Gombato Member of County Assembly (MCA) Omar Boga has won the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominations for the Msambeni by-election set for later this year.

In a tweet, ODM announced that Boga won the contest after securing over 6,183 votes against his competitor Nicholas Zani who had 530 votes.

“After the day long nomination exercise in Msambweni today, Omar Idd Boga has emerged the winner with 6,183 votes. Eng. Nicholas Zani managed 530 votes. Therefore Mr. Boga is our candidate for the by-election to be held on December 15, 2020. Congratulations Hon. Boga,” ODM tweeted.

Following the win, Boga will now face off with candidates from other parties including Wiper Party and a number of independent candidates.

Speaking after the win, Boga said he is ready to work with Zani and other leaders in a bid to make Msambweni a better constituency.

"He is a good friend of mine and I have always supported him, today's results should not bring enmity between us," he said as quoted by Star.
