President Uhuru Kenyatta has postponed a meeting with clergy and women leaders from Central Kenya.
A statement by the State House indicated that the meeting which was scheduled for Monday, February 1, 2021, at Sagana State Lodge was moved to next week.
“Consultative meetings between His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Clergy and Women Leaders from Central Kenya scheduled for today, Monday 1st February 2021 at Sagana State Lodge have been postponed to next week due to unavoidable circumstances,” the statement read.
Last week Friday President Kenyatta arrived at Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri county for a four-day tour of the Central region.

During his visit, the Head of State was slated to launch complete national government projects and inspect ongoing ones.
Uhuru also met local leaders to discuss the Big 4 Agenda, the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), curriculum reforms, and the fight against Covid-19.
Sagana Meeting

It is understood that only leaders seen to be loyal to the president were invited to the meeting, leading to the explosive letter signed by 41 leaders.
President Kenyatta met thousands of delegates at the Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri where leaders from Mt Kenya region voiced their unanimous support for the BBI.
While praising the BBI report, the leaders led by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga told Uhuru they will not allow divisive politics and external influence to disrupt the peace and unity of the region.
The leaders who included representatives of the youth, women, politicians, and other grassroots formations made the assurance during the consultative meeting at Sagana.
Speaking during the meeting, the leaders said their region stands to benefit from the constitutional reform process.
