Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Eng. Joseph Siror has been summoned.

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Eng. Joseph Siror has been summoned by the Commission on Administrative Justice (Office of the Ombudsman).

In a statement on Thursday, June 6, the Office of the Ombudsman directed Siror to appear before the commission on June 11 at 10:00 a.m.

According to the commission, the KPLC CEO was summoned for questioning or disclosure of information and/ or the production of documents and examination.

“The Commission on Administrative Justice (Office of the Ombudsman) has summoned the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Power, Dr Eng. Joseph Siror, to appear before the commission on 11th June 2024 at 10.00 am.

"The summon has been issued pursuant to Article 59 (2) (h-k) and 252 (3) of the Constitution as read with  sections 27 and 28 of the Commission on Administrative Justice Act, 2011," read part of the statement.

The commission also issued a notice to show cause to several government officials, including Basic Education PS Dr. Belio Kipsang.

Other officials were Ms. Nancy Kirumba, County Executive Committee Member, Finance and Economic Planning County Government Kiambu, Mr. Christopher Kinyua Wanjau, Secretary National Registration Bureau; and Ms. Tache Kabale, Chief Executive Officer of National Land Commission.

The Office of the Ombudsman stated that the mentioned public officers declined to respond to complaints lodged against their institutions at the commission.

According to the Commission on Administrative Justice Act, 2011, a public officer who fails to honour a summon is liable upon conviction to a fine not exceeding Sh500,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 2 years, or both.

“Now take notice that you are hereby required to show cause within fourteen days from the date hereof why your name should not be entered in the register of malfeasant public officers as an unresponsive public officer and unfit to serve the public service and for the commission to further cite you as such in its statutory report by regulation 18 (c) of the commission on administrative Justice Regulations,” read the notice by the Office of the Ombudsman.
