Two bodyguards associated with former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko are in police custody over claims of attempting to break him out.
Reports indicate that Clifford Ouko and Benjamin Ochieng were charged at the Kahawa West Law Courts for attempting to rescue the former Governor who was impeached in November 2020.
The prosecution said the two were arrested on February 3 outside the Kamiti court where they allegedly planned to help him out.
The duo was on Friday arraigned at the Kahawa Law Courts for allegedly procuring uniform resembling military attire, clothing which they were spotted wearing in public in contravention of the law.
In an application by the Director of Criminal Investigations, the state is seeking to detain the duo for 30 days to complete their probe.

Sonko's Woes
Detectives claimed they found military attire, mobile phones, DVDs, Sim Cards and a laptop from houses belonging to the two suspects.
In a sworn affidavit, the investigating officer said the duo is a threat to the stability of this country and that he has information that they have been financing terrorism activities.
An affidavit filed in court also indicated that Sonko is under investigation for arming a militia group in a dramatic turn of events a day after facing multiple robbery and assault charges stemming from offences allegedly committed in 2019.
Sonko denied a total of 12 counts levelled against him and which his lawyers said were politically motivated.
He was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts Wednesday during the mention of his corruption cases, only for him to be taken to the Kahawa West Law Courts in the evening where an affidavit was filed indicating that he was under active investigation on terrorism activities.
