The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a month-long traffic disruption at the Gitaru interchange along Waiyaki Way.
In a notice on Friday, August 23, KeNHA Director General Eng. Kungu Ndungu disclosed that the traffic disruption will begin on Thursday, August 29 and end on Monday, October 7.
"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption at Gitaru interchange on A8 (Waiyaki Way) and Southern Bypass to Western Bypass," read part of the notice.
Acording to Ndungu, the disruption is due to ongoing road works for the construction of the Southeastern loop of the Gitarui interchange.

The KeNHA boss disclosed that vehicles coming from Nakuru to the Southern Bypass make a turn at the Regen interchange, which located 3 kilometers from Gitaru, before proceeding to the Southern Bypass.
Similarly, those coming from the Western Bypass to join Waiyaki Way will use the slip road at the Kwa Magu underpass, then proceed to Mlango Soko and join Waiyaki Way at Rungiri.
Ndungu further explained that vehicles from Nairobi to Ndenderu will make a turn at the Muguku junction to access the Western Bypass.
At the same time, he noted that vehicles coming from the Southern Bypass towards Nairobi turn left at the slip road and make a U-turn before entering Waiyaki Way.
The KeNHA boss, however, maintained that the routes between the Southern Bypass and Western Bypass, Nakuru/Mai Mahiu to Western Bypass and Nairobi to Southern Bypass will not be disrupted.
