Another deadly school fire has been reported.

A huge fire broke out at Isiolo Girls High School on Saturday night, September 7, razing down a section of premises in the school.

In photos and videos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, members of the public gathered at the scene and tried to put out the fire.

The Kenya Red Cross confirmed the incident and disclosed that emergency response teams had been dispatched to the school.

In a subsequent update, the humanitarian organisation noted that the fire had been contained with the help of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) fire brigade.

Three minor injuries were recorded following the tragedy.

"Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) fire brigade contained the situation. Three minor injuries were attended to and psychological first aid was provided," Kenya Red Cross stated.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

This comes after the death toll in the Hillside Endarasha Academy fire tragedy rose to 21.

Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura on Saturday disclosed that more learners succumbed to burn injuries while in hospitals in Nairobi and Nyeri.

"Nineteen bodies have been recovered from the scene with the help of the DCI and the government pathologist on site. 2 additional deaths have occurred in hospital at the Kenyatta National Hospital and Mary Immaculate Hospital, Nyeri," Mwaura remarked.

He further intimated that 17 pupils from the school were still uncounted for after the tragedy and that the cause of the fire had not been conclusively determined.
