Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir on Thursday, October 3, presented himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in Mombasa to record a statement over the attack of blogger Bruce John.

Speaking to the media, the governor revealed that he presented himself voluntarily to help in the investigations.

He acknowledged that his name had been mentioned in the attack on the blogger, maintaining that he did not have anything to do with it.

On the other hand, Nassir added that he would be willing to present his mother to the police if needed.

"This is not about me. This is about a young man and we need to get to the bottom of this. I have told them that if they require my mother, by all means, I will bring her.

"All the information they required I provided it," he stated.

Meanwhile, he called on any individual with information regarding the attack to report the matter to the police.

The governor also called on the DCI to expedite the matter so that the truth about who orchestrated and planned the attack is known.

"I have asked the DCI to expedite this case so that we get to know what happened. Of course, I condemn the attack," he stated.

"These are things that we do not want to see not only in Mombasa but everywhere in the country."

Blogger Bruce John was attacked by unknown individuals for allegedly criticising the county government.

Meanwhile, police have arrested some individuals over the attack which has caused public uproar in recent days.
