"I trust that you will consider my request with the seriousness it deserves."

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has written to the Speaker of the Nairobi City County Assembly seeking removal from all committees.

In a letter dated October 7, Alai claimed that he was concerned about lack of due process and fairness in the operationalisation of the committees.

The lawmaker further asserted that the Speaker, Kennedy Ngodi, had refused to comply with a court order which nullified his removal from the Public Accounts Committee.

"Despite a court order nullifying my removal, the Assembly's leadership, including yourself and the Majority Leader, has refused to comply with this order. This blatant disregard for the law undermines the integrity of the assembly and the trust placed in us by the citizens of Nairobi," Alai stated.

He added, "Considering these frustrations and the continued refusal to respect lawful orders and procedures, I hereby request to be removed from all committee assignments."

Alai noted that he was seeking removal until due process is followed in the constitution and all the County Assembly committees are reconstituted.

He further sought fair legislation by the Members of the County Assembly without influence or coercion within the assembly.

"I trust that you will consider my request with the seriousness it deserves, and I look forward to prompt response that reflects the Assembly's commitment to transparency, justice and the rule of law," Alai explained.

He is currently a member of the Assembly's Energy and ICT Committee, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Committee and Public Investment Committee.
