The National Construction Authority (NCA) has ordered a landlady to demolish her apartment building based in Roysambu Sub-County.
In a statement a notice issued on Thursday, November 7, Mary Wangui was instructed to undertake the demolitions over safety concerns of the building.
According to NCA, tenants of the 10-year-old building had to be evacuated after it was established that it had several structural integrity issues.
"All tenants have been evacuated, and the building cordoned off. Additionally, the building owner has been ordered to demolish the structure failure to which will lead to swift action by the Government," read the statement in part.

In particular, the authority highlighted that the four-storey building had visible cracks on the structural beams and walls.
"Cracks have been observed on the first-floor beams and ground-floor walls. Significant dampness is present on the balconies of the first floor, indicating water infiltration issues that could weaken the building structure over time," NCA added.
"The ground floor wall and front left corner column exhibit structural failure, with visible cracks compromising the building’s stability."
Meanwhile, the authority called on Kenyans to be observant of the buildings they live in and report any anomalies witnessed.
On the other hand, contractors and developers were advised to observe various regulations required during the construction of high-rise buildings across the country.
NCA indicated that compliance would protest the lives of Kenyans given the lives that have been lost when buildings have collapsed in the recent past.
