DCI believe that the two wanted men may have left the country to escape from the police.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a manhunt for two men following the emergence of a viral assault video on the internet.

In a statement by the investigative agency on Monday, November 11, police are actively pursuing a man and his brother for the assault of a minor in Busia County.

According to the DCI, the man captured assaulting the minor in the viral video was his uncle. The father is reported to have recorded the video.

Police documented that the incident happened three months ago, however, the boy is still healing from his injuries.

What caused the assault is yet to be made public.

"During the incident, the minor's uncle, namely Edwin Ogolla, was captured on camera while manhandling him as his father recorded the happenings without an iota of guilt. The minor suffered serious injuries that are still healing due to a lack of immediate medical attention," read the statement in part.

"When the incident came to light, children's officers took the minor to the hospital where he was treated and the medical form (P3) filled."

DCI believe that the two wanted men may have left the country to escape from the police.

However, the investigative agency revealed that it was actively working on ways to have the two men arrested and brought back to the country to face the law.

"Detectives in Bunyala recorded witness statements and launched a hot pursuit for the two ruffians. They are on the run and believed to be holed up in a neighbouring country," DCI added.

"However, pragmatic measures are underway to flush them out and bring them to justice."
