The government has announced new reforms aimed at enhancing passenger experience at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
In a press statement shared on Monday, November 11, the government through four ministries; National Treasury, Roads and Transport, Tourism and Internal Security said the rectifications will ensure seamless, efficient, and respectful service to travelers arriving and leaving the country.
First, the government said it will prioritize advanced technological solutions to streamline customs and immigration processes.
Additionally, the new reforms will see the government automate and digitalize processes to reduce paperwork and enable a smoother travel experience.
Thirdly, the government says it will enhance security and comfort at restricted airport areas, including VIP lounges, with only authorized personnel allowed to operate within the secure zones.

Finally, the government has committed to enhancing customer service quality across the airport, with officials undergoing training continuously in a bid to incorporate the highest levels of professionalism and courtesy.
"The measures highlight the government's commitment to positioning JKIA as a world-class gateway to Kenya and a leading regional aviation hub. As a premier tourism destination, Kenya is poised to further enhance visitors' experiences of the "Magical Kenya" brand.
"Through these reforms, we reaffirm our commitment to service excellence, welcoming travelers with fishing and professionalism, while safeguarding the integrity of our borders," the statement concluded.
This comes slightly a month after JKIA was crowned the best airport in the whole of Africa, beating its equals from among other countries South Africa and Morocco.
Celebrating the feat, the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) said it was an indication that the JKIA was at par with the emerging trends in satisfying customer service.
"This win reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional service, enhancing operational efficiency, and continuously improving the passenger experience. We thank all our passengers and partners for their continued support," said KAA on October 13, 2024.
The award was issued by the World Travel Awards and was handed to KAA MD Henry Ogoye and JKIA Airport Manager Selina Gor.
