In response to his election, the MP thanked his colleagues for entrusting them as their leader.

Molo Member of Parliament Kuria Kimani has been elected as the chairperson of the Africa Young Parliamentarians Network.

In a statement dated Wednesday, November 13, the MP revealed that the young parliamentarians from the continent resolved to elect him as chair following a meeting convened in Ethiopia.

Kimani will be deputized by Hon. Mohamed Kari from Comoros.

Other elected leaders were Vuyolwethu Zungula (South Africa) as Secretary-General, Hon Dr Zaroua Ouma (Chad) as Treasurer and Hon Amira Saber (Egypt) as the Organizing Secretary.



"I thanked the leaders for entrusting me with the leadership of the organisation. God bless Africa YPN." the MP stated.

The Africa Young Parliamentarians Network is an organisation that brings together young legislators from the continent.

The network was in Ethiopia to discuss several issues facing the continent such as corruption, governance and debt.

"Assessing the current debt in Africa, there is an urgent need to address its anti-corruption challenges. This highlights the need for regional cooperation, effective legislative reforms, and the empowerment of young leaders to shape Africa’s future," read the statement in part.

"Working closely with regional and international partners and CSOs, AYPN aims to empower the next generation of African leaders to foster transparent, accountable, and sustainable governance for Africa’s future."
