The comedian revealed that he was JKIA to fly out to Tanzania for work.

Comedian Eric Omondi on Friday, November 15 claimed to have been arrested by police at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

In a statement on his social media pages, the comedian revealed that he was JKIA to fly out to Tanzania for work.

According to Omondi, he was part of the team that would launch a flight from JKIA to Dar es Salaam.

However, upon handing over his passport to the immigration officers to process his travel, he was informed of an existing stay order. Therefore, he was detained at the airport.



"I have been arrested at JKIA Just before I boarded a flight to Dar es Salaam. As a brand ambassador to Skyward, we were launching the inaugural Dar es Salaam flight," he announced.

"Upon handing over my passport, the immigration officers informed me that there is a stop order and that I cannot travel and I have to be detained."

At the time of publication, police were yet to issue a statement on the arrest and detention.

Additionally, details of the stay order have not been made public by the authorities or by the comedian.

In recent, months the comedian has been arrested on several occasions for leading protests in major parts of the country. The protests led by Omondi have been centred around the rising cost of living.
