Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) commissioner Johnson Muthama has been recognized with a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. 

In an update on Friday, November 29, he stated that he was feted for his outstanding contributions to Kenya's mining industry. 

Muthama noted that the award was presented during the 2024 Kenya Mining Investment Conference, an event aimed at showcasing potential and advancements within the country’s mining sector.

"I am honoured to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Mining Corporation for my contributions to Kenya’s mining industry at the 2024 Kenya Mining Investment Conference," he wrote in part.

The award was accepted on Muthama's behalf by his daughter, Alice Muthama, along with members of his team.

"The award, accepted on my behalf by my daughter, Alice Muthama ,and our esteemed team yesterday in Nairobi, celebrates our collective efforts toward a sustainable mining future. I am grateful to the organizers for this recognition as I continue to work in advancing this vital sector," he added.

A lifetime achievement award recognizes individuals for their exceptional contributions and long-term impact in various fields, such as philanthropy, environmentalism, and the arts. 

These awards aim to honor legacies that inspire future generations, highlighting sustained commitment to societal improvement and innovation across sectors. 

The National Mining Corporation is an investment arm of the Kenyan government established under the Mining Act of 2016. 

Its primary functions include engaging in mineral prospecting, investing on behalf of the government, and acquiring interests in mining-related enterprises. 

NMC aims to enhance the mining sector's contribution to Kenya's economy by facilitating investments and partnerships in mineral exploration and production.

The corporation is managed by a board appointed by the President, ensuring alignment with national interests in resource management.
