The summon was revealed by Nandi senator Samson Cherargei.

Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya has been sanctioned to appear before the Senate Committee on ICT to shed light on the shortfalls in the county's revenue collection.

In a meeting with Trans Nzoia county Executive on the Revenue collection systems, Nandi senator Samson Cherargei established that the county was not meeting its collection potential.

According to him, instead of collecting close to Sh 2 billion as own revenue, the county was only managing a paltry Sh 500 million.

Natembeya has been invited before the Upper House's committee to expound on the county's revenue collection infrastructure.

"We have directed the Governor to appear before senate on the matter of revenue system, governance, policy and under-collection," Cherargei said.

This comes days after Natembeya appeared before the Senate Committee on Education to deliberate on the ECDE and vocational training.

"We agreed on the need to put more effort into improving our teacher-to-pupil ratio and the provision of learning materials for ECDEs," Natembeya said after the meeting.
