Kenya Railways has announced the introduction of additional trips for the Nairobi-Kisumu route owing to increased demand during the festivities.
In a statement dated Thursday, December 19, the corporation announced that it was adding two more trips for those leaving Nairobi to the lakeside City.
Apart from Friday, there will now be a train service on Mondays and Wednesdays. The train will be leaving Nairobi at 4 pm.
Likewise, additional trips were announced for the Kisumu-Nairobi route.

"The train to Kisumu will be departing the Nairobi Central Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 4 pm. The train to Nairobi will be departing the Kisumu Railway Station on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays at 6:30 pm," read the statement in part.
"Thank you for your continued support and trust in us. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year."
As revealed by Kenya Railways, the additional trips will end on January 15, 2025.
Those seeking to use the Nairobi-Kisumu train are charged Ksh900 for one way. Children pay half of that.
The demand for the train service has been witnessed in recent weeks given the fare prices set by bus companies plying the Nairobi-Kisumu-Busia route.
Currently, those travelling by bus from Nairobi to Kisumu are paying Ksh1,850 to Ksh2,500.
