Three suspects linked to a series of violent robberies have been arrested after weeks of evading law enforcement.
In an update on Sunday, December 29, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the operation also resulted in the recovery of a G3 rifle believed to have been used in their criminal activities.
The suspects, identified as Joseph Lokoloi, 22, Francis Alenthia Namaringile, 24, and Moses Kenchai, 23, were apprehended in connection with a robbery at Dore Fashion Shop in Samburu East Sub-County.
According to the DCI, the incident, which occurred on December 12, 2024, had been reported at Archer’s Police Post.
"Thanks to a dedicated multi-agency team comprising Detectives and Police Officers from Samburu Police Station alongside National Police Reservist, the suspects were tracked down and flushed out from their hideouts. During the operation, officers seized a G3 rifle, serial number A3-9796032, loaded with two rounds of 7.62mm ammunition," the investigating agency said.

With the three in police custody, DCI said law enforcement agencies are currently pursuing two additional suspects linked to the strings of violent crimes.
"Now, with the trio awaiting processing in police custody, the wheels of justice are set in motion. Meanwhile, law enforcement officers remain hot on the trail of two additional suspects who are still at large. This operation highlights our unwavering commitment to community safety during this festive season," the agency added.
This comes a week after detectives from Rachuonyo North arrested a 34-year-old man suspected of drug peddling and illegal possession of a firearm.
In a statement on December 22, 2024, DCI said the suspect, Barnabas Okello, was apprehended at his residence in South Kanyaluo.
Following the suspect's arrest, DCI said detectives seized a loaded firearm with four rounds of ammunition, several rolls of marijuana, and police gear including balaclavas and camouflage clothing.
The suspect had allegedly been seen with a firearm and was also known to engage in the sale of marijuana.
The arrest was carried out by detectives in collaboration with officers from the Kendubay Police Station, who had set up an ambush at Okello’s home after receiving credible reports.
