The clergy has urged political leaders to focus on building a lasting legacy by empowering ordinary citizens, emphasizing that power is temporary.
Speaking to the press on Wednesday, January 1, at Zoe Worship Centre in Kinoo, Kiambu County, Rev. David King'ori, the church's leader, called on leaders to ensure they leave behind meaningful achievements for future generations upon their retirement.
“To our leaders, this is the cry of my heart. Let us understand that political leadership is seasonal and you need to build a legacy for yourselves because this time you are there and the next time you will not be there. It is my prayer that you retire peacefully because you can imagine what will happen when you have nothing to show and tell the generations to come,” Rev. King'ori stated.
He added, "My prayer to you my fellow leaders, the church leaders and the political leaders: let us focus our leadership on the common mwananchi and let us build, help and enlighten them for them to understand where they are going and what is expected of them."
At the same time, Rev. King'ori called on the government to listen to the people, claiming that the top leadership seemed not to be aware of their challenges.

Similarly, he urged the government to adhere to the rule of law and thus be accountable and responsible.
"Kenyans are suffering and it seems the top leadership is not aware of what is happening on the ground. It is my prayer to our leaders to open their leaders to Kenyans who are crying and don't know what to do with their own lives.
"Let all of us, even the government, adhere to the rule of law. No one is above the law. All of us have been called to be led by the constitution that we all ambrace. Let the leadership be accountable and responsible," Rev. King'ori explained.
He further asked the government to create a conducive environment for Kenyans to engage in their daily businesses.
