Billy Mwangi was abducted on December 21, 2024.

Gerald Mwangi Karicha, the father of Billy Mwangi, has disclosed that his son walked to their home in Embu County on Monday morning, January 6, weeks after being abducted.

Speaking to the media at his home, Karicha explained that Mwangi showed up on his own at around 8:00 a.m. in the morning.

He stated that he was outside with his wife when his son appeared, even as he thanked Kenyans for praying for the family while Mwangi was missing.

"He came at 8:00 a.m. He is the one who brought himself. We were outside with his mother and we saw him. We thank God for all those who prayed for us and stood with us. He is good and he is talking,” Karicha told the media.

Mwangi was abducted on December 21 while at a barbershop in Embu Town, where he had gone for a haircut.

The 24-year-old’s father broke down in court on Tuesday, December 31, disclosing that a white Toyota Fielder car was used in the abduction of his son.

He revealed that the vehicle surveilled their neighbourhood three days before his son was abducted.

Meanwhile, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli and Rony Kiplangat, who had also been abducted, have also been released.

Their release comes after weeks of intensified calls from the public and some leaders for the release of young people who had been recently abducted.
