Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has recounted the harrowing abduction of cartoonist Gideon Kibet, popularly known as Kibet Bull.
In a statement on Monday, January 6 after speaking with Kibet shortly after his release, Omtatah described the cartoonist as resilient and unwavering in spirit despite the ordeal.
According to the Senator, following his meeting with Kibet, he was safely dropped off at the Archives in Nairobi CBD by Omtatah's driver.
Kibet boarded a Super Metro bus to Kikuyu but it was upon his arrival in that he was reportedly kidnapped, blindfolded, and bundled into a vehicle by unidentified abductors.
"It was at Kikuyu that he was kidnapped. The kidnappers blindfolded him and bundled him into a vehicle. They drove for a long distance and then took him to a small room where they locked him up. He also mentioned that the abductors denied food," Omtatah said.

However, despite the traumatic experience, Omtatah noted that Kibet’s resolve to fight for justice remains unshaken.
“The resolve in his voice is an encouragement to me and to all progressive Kenyans to continue fighting the many injustices that this regime is meting on innocent patriotic Kenyans,” the Senator added.
Omtatah emphasized the need to intensify efforts to end abductions, urging for the release of all those unlawfully detained and for justice to prevail.
"The fight against abductions has to continue until all the abductees are released and justice is served,” he declared.
Kibet Bull resurfaced on Monday evening.
In an update on his X account, the cartoonist confirmed his release, noting that he was dropped off at Luanda, Vihiga County around 3-4 AM on Monday.
Kibet Bull added that he then went to a local disco matanga where he stayed until 6AM when he booked a bus back home.
"They dropped me in Luanda, Vihiga at 3-4 AM today. I did not know whether to enter or book a room. I went to a disco matanga and danced until 6 AM when I went to book a ticket," he wrote on X.
