Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has left the country for Mozambique to represent Kenya in the inauguration of Mozambique's President-Elect Daniel Francisco Chapo.
In a statement on Wednesday, January 15, Kindiki disclosed that he held talks with Somalia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) before departing to Mozambique.
"Departure for Maputo, to represent Kenya at the inauguration of President-Elect Daniel Francisco Chapo, Republic of Mozambique.
"At the airport, I held discussions with Somalia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi who was on transit from Cairo, Egypt, to Somalia," Kindiki stated.
His trip comes at a time when President William Ruto is also out of the country after departing for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday, January 13.

According to State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, President Ruto left to attend the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit, where he was scheduled to address the summit's opening session.
The Head of State was also expected to hold bilateral talks with prominent global leaders, including UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
On Tuesday, January 14, President Ruto witnessed the signing of the Kenya-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) which he said will deepen trade ties between the two nations.
"It is expected to more than triple Kenya’s exports of meat products, fruits, vegetables, cut flowers, tea and coffee once implemented. The CEPA will also provide the UAE with investment opportunities in the energy, water, agriculture, health, airports, logistics, and ICT sectors," President Ruto remarked.
