The National Police Service (NPS) has replaced Dr Resila Onyango as the police spokesperson.
In changes announced on Thursday, January 16, Resila was replaced by Michael Nyaga Muchiri who has been serving as the Kiambu Police Commander.
Subsequently, Resila was named as the commandant of the Diplomatic Police Unit.
Resila was appointed as the police spokesperson in 2022 and became the first female officer with a PhD to hold that position.
At the time, she replaced Bruno Shioso who was appointed as the commandant of the National Police Training Campus in Kiganjo.

Other Police Leadership Changes
Apart from Resila, NPS also replaced Nairobi County Police Commander Adamson Bungei who has been moved to the police headquarters.
Bungei was replaced with George Sedah. Prior to his appointment, Sedah was serving as the Coast Regional Police Commander.
Consequently, Sedah was replaced by Kwale County Police Commander Ali Nuno.
Other notable changes included Dr Mwangi Wanderi who was moved to police headquarters as the director of human capital. Wanderi was moved from DCI headquarters where he was serving as the head of the National Forensics Laboratory.
