Another officer remarked, "To North-Eastern Kenya, especially Garissa, you are represented. Your son is here."
"My fellow Kenyans, I want to say that we are doing well. Continue praying for us as we also do our best in the mission. We send you greetings," stated another one.
This comes days after a contingent of 217 additional police officers flagged off for a peacekeeping mission in Haiti by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen arrived in the Caribbean nation on Sunday, January 19.
The officers, who were aboard a Kenya Airways flight, broke into a jubilant dance upon touching down in Haiti while clad in full combat gear and heavily armed, ready to embark on their mission in Haiti.
While flagging off the troops, Murkomen highlighted the success of the Kenya-led mission in Haiti, noting that it has significantly reduced gang violence in the Caribbean nation.
"The Kenya-led mission has made tremendous progress in reducing gang violence, earning praise across the globe, including from both the outgoing and incoming US administrations. Our commitment to this historic mission is unwavering and we will continue to mobilise all the necessary international support for it to succeed," Murkomen stated.
