Transport CS Davis Chirchir added that more interventions deliberated by the multisectoral team would be announced in due course.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has announced that the Immigration Department will be adding more clearance points at JKIA to reduce the time taken by travellers.

Speaking during a multiagency meeting on Monday, January 27, the CS acknowledged that many people did not like waiting in lines during clearance.

Therefore, with an increase in immigration points, visitors and travellers will find more ease at the international airport.

"In many of those countries (that people travel to), we do not like queuing. Why would we want to have people queue for long here? We have agreed with immigration that we are going to increase the number of stations," he stated.

On the other hand, he stated that various reforms such as name tags for airport officials would be implemented for security and service delivery reasons.

"On customs, we want to know how we can scan these goods and reduce the number of people who will be forced to be searched," he added.

Transport CS Davis Chirchir, on his part, added that more interventions deliberated by the multisectoral team would be announced in due course.

"This morning, we held a multi-agency meeting, that brought together the ministries of Transport, Interior, Tourism, the National Treasury, as well as the Kenya Association of Air Operators, Kenya Tourism Board, the Kenya Tourism Federation, and other stakeholders to deliberate on immediate, short-term, and long-term measures to improve service delivery to Kenyans and our visitors.

"The team will deliberate on a new airport charter that will establish a streamlined coordination framework to be announced soon,' he added.
