Former Attorney General Githu Muigai is back in government after landing an appointment in the National Treasury.
In a special gazette dated February 24, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Planning Ukur Yatani appointed Muigai as the chairperson of the Public-Private Partnership committee.
Muigai's appointment was in accordance with section 67(2) of the public-private partnership Act,2013.
The former AG will chair the committee whose members are Mohammed Abbey Mohamed, Janice Korir, Eunice Lumalia, and Sadick Mustapha.
The Public-Private Partnership Unit (PPPU) is established under Section 8 of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Act, 2013 as a Special Purpose Unit within the National Treasury.

New Position
Its focus is to serve as the secretariat and technical arm of the PPP Committee, which is mandated with assessing and approving PPP projects in the country.
In addition, the PPP identifies problems and makes recommendations to the PPP Committee regarding potential solutions, and ensuring that projects meet such quality criteria as affordability, value for money, and appropriate transfer of risk.
After leaving the AG role, Prof Muigai said he’ll be back in the classroom after more than 35 years of career in law spanning public and private sectors.
He is presently serving as a member of the UN Human Rights Council’s working group on business and human rights, a team made up of independent experts who report and advise on human rights from a thematic or country-specific perspective.
