The Orange Democratic Party (ODM) has dismissed reports that it is planning to fold and merge with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
In a statement on Sunday, February 2, ODM Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi said the ODM Central Management Committee has not made any decision to fold the party and merge it with any other party.
The Vihiga Senator claimed that the rumours were being propagated by non-members of the opposition party mainly from ANC.
He noted that the ODM Party is currently involved in strengthening itself in preparations for the 2027 general election.
“We unanimously dispelled rumours that the ODM Party will be folding. These rumours are being propagated by non-members, mainly those from the ANC party that was swallowed by UDA.

“The 20-year-old party is currently involved in strengthening itself from the grassroots in readiness for the 2027 General Election. The Central Management has not made any decision to fold or merge with any other political party,” said Osotsi.
He also mentioned that the ODM Management Committee will be meeting this week to deliberate on existing matters and steady the ship.
This comes days after ANC, formerly headed by Mudavadi officially merged with UDA in a strategic move aimed at consolidating political influence ahead of the 2027 elections.
Following the merger, President William Ruto will serve as the Party Leader while Deputy President Kithure Kindiki will serve as the 1st Deputy Party Leader and Lamu Governor Issa Timamy will be taking up the role of the 2nd Deputy Party Leader.
