President William Ruto has held a phone call with King Charles III of the United Kingdom, reaffirming the strong relationship between the two nations.
In an update on Monday, February 3, Ruto said the discussion covered key areas of cooperation, including climate conservation and regional security.
“I have had a telephone conversation with His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom. We discussed Kenya’s long-standing and close ties with the United Kingdom.
"I am glad that Kenya and the United Kingdom have a shared passion for nature and climate conservation. We also discussed regional peace and security and Kenya’s role,” he said.

The phone call comes over a year after King Charles III and Queen Camilla visited Kenya.
From October 31 to November 3, 2023, the royal couple undertook a four-day state visit to Kenya, marking King Charles's first state visit to a Commonwealth nation as monarch.
During their visit, King Charles III and Queen Camilla were received by Ruto at State House in Nairobi, where King Charles inspected a guard of honor.
The visit included engagements in various sectors, focusing on education, innovation, agriculture, and military collaboration.
King Charles visited the Eastlands Library in Nairobi, where he learned about initiatives aimed at restoring libraries and promoting reading among children.
He also toured City Shamba, an urban farming project at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, highlighting sustainable agriculture practices in urban settings.
Additionally, the King met with entrepreneurs at Nairobi Garage, a technology and innovation hub, where he engaged in discussions about advancements in technology and innovation.
In Mombasa, he observed a drill by the British-trained Kenya Marines and visited environmental conservation projects.
