A group of 200 Kenyan police guards has left the country for Qatar after successfully securing positions in the Gulf nation's security sector.
In a statement on Wednesday, February 5, Labour CS Alfred Mutua said the recruits, selected through a rigorous process, will undergo extensive training before being fully integrated into the Qatari government security system.
"Following the successful recruitment of Kenyan Police Guards trainees for the State of Qatar, I was pleased to see off the 200 recruits who will be serving in the Government of Qatar. These Kenyans will undergo extensive training before being fully integrated into the Qatari government security system," the CS said.
Mutua who saw off the recruits expressed confidence in their ability to excel in their new roles, adding that the selection process was highly competitive.
"I encouraged them to work diligently, uphold discipline, and represent Kenya with excellence. The selection process required proficiency in Arabic, a spotless criminal record, a strong educational background and an exemplary attitude —key attributes for success in their new roles," he added.

Mutua stated that more Kenyan recruits will continue traveling as per the schedule set by their Qatari employers.
"More recruited Kenyans for various jobs in Qatar will continue traveling as per the schedule set by the employing company in Qatar," he concluded.
Mutua has been actively facilitating the deployment of Kenyan workers to Qatar as part of the government's initiative to provide employment opportunities abroad.
On December 28, 2024, he bid farewell to a group of Kenyan drivers departing for Qatar.
"As the Minister in charge of Labour Mobility, I am pleased to assure Kenyans that Qatar is a very safe and hospitable nation for them. Despite earlier reports, we can confidently confirm that there are no Kenyan refugees in the State of Qatar. All Kenyans in Qatar are either gainfully employed or visiting this beautiful country," he said.
Earlier December, the first batch of nearly 300 young men and women traveled to Qatar, marking the commencement of this overseas employment program.
