Renowned news anchor Ken Mijungu has announced his departure from Standard Media Group-owned TV station KTN after four years.
Mijungu made the announcement in an update on social media on Wednesday, February 5, expressing gratitude for his time at the station.
"A good dancer knows when to exit the stage! Four years of absolute adrenaline and nothing but the best—as unpredictable as it was. It’s time to find something else to do while I still can. Forever grateful to God, my colleagues Standard Group, and KTN News. Adios," he wrote.
Mijungu, who has been a familiar face on KTN, has built a reputation for his sharp reporting and engaging news presentation.
He attended Maseno School for his secondary education from 1998 to 2001 and joined Moi University where he earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.

After completing his law degree in 2007, Mijungu initially worked as a cab driver before making his entry into journalism during the 2007/2008 post-election violence.
He borrowed a camera from his brother to capture the events in Kibera, catching the attention of K24 TV where he was recruited as a reporter.
Mijungu's media career includes roles at several prominent organizations including K24 TV where he worked for nearly four years, CCTV Africa (now CGTN) where he joined in 2012 as a reporter.
He later served as a senior reporter and anchor at NTV Kenya for seven years, notably hosting the Sidebar show, where he conducted in-depth interviews with prominent figures.
Beyond journalism, Mijungu is an entrepreneur with interests in the transport and aviation sectors.
This comes a month after renowned journalist and broadcaster Eric Latiff also announced his departure from Standard Media Group.
In a statement on Monday, January 6, Latiff expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work at Standard Media Group and expressed that he was looking forward to starting new things.
"On this 6th day of January 2025, my heart is heavy as I bid "kwaheri to the brilliant team of colleagues at Spice FM and the Standard Group. I am grateful for the opportunity to be once again a part of Kenya’s oldest private media house and I am proud of the teams that I leave behind in radio, TV, and print.
"I love the thrill of creating and starting new things and I have been blessed to do just that. I was privileged to be there at the launch of Kenya’s first 24-hour religious media house - Family FM and Family TV, the first 24hrs vernacular radio station - Kameme FM, and the first 24-hour news and information TV station - K24. Is there room for something new? Of course, always, and I sure hope to be a part of it soon. Wish me luck, I will keep you posted," he concluded.
Latiff later joined Nation Media Group where he hosts a show dubbed Fixing the Nation alongside Janet Mbugua and Mariam Bishar.
In a statement on Monday, January 6, NMG Head of Broadcasting Simaloi Dajom said Latiff's addition to NMG aligns with the company’s strategy to innovate and elevate its broadcast offerings.
"Having Latiff on board aligns perfectly with our strategy to continuously innovate and elevate our broadcast offerings and underscores our commitment to creating multimedia content that our customers love. I am confident that his inclusion will bring much-needed impact in the fast-changing media landscape," she stated.
