KeNHA advised the affected motorists on the alternative routes.

Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has notified motorists on the Thika Superhighway of an oncoming traffic disruption occasioned by construction works.

The agency, in its statement on Saturday, stated that the highway would be closed at the Juja Highpoint between February 15 and 18, to allow for the construction of a footbridge in the foregoing location.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public that Thika Superhighway shall be partially closed at Juja Highpoint (Centurion) to enable the construction of the footbridge from Saturday, February 15, 202,5 to Tuesday, February 18, 2025, between 2300hrs to 0600hrs," read KeNHA's notice.

KeNHA advised the affected motorists on the alternative routes.

KenHA workers on site.

Those headed to Nairobi will use a diversion behind Lexo petrol station before rejoining the Superhighway, while the Thika-bound traffic will use a diversion behind Centurion Hotel before rejoining the Superhighway.

"Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas and follow the proposed traffic management plan below as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site," KenHA said.

Meanwhile, traffic remains disrupted on Nairobi's Uhuru Highway as construction works continue.

In January, KenHA announced a 36-day closure of the road at the Haile Selassie Roundabout, where an underground pedestrian underpass was being constructed.

The section will be reopened after the construction works end on Thursday, February 20.
