The 888880 pay bill channel used by most customers has been experiencing downtime.

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has advised its prepaid customers to recharge their meters through banks that support its billing.

From Friday, February 14, through Saturday, February 15, the customers could not purchase tokens through the common 888880 MPesa pay bill.

The utility firm explained that the mobile money channel was experiencing a hitch.

Alternatively, they could bill using channels in six banks, namely Equity Bank, the Cooperative Bank, the NCBA Bank, KCB Bank, National Bank and Family Bank.
