President William Ruto has slammed Martha Karua and other opposition leaders who attended the launch of the People's Liberation Party (PLP).

Speaking on Friday, February 28 while launching the Illasit–Rombo– Njukini– Taveta Road in Taita Taveta County, the President took a swipe at the opposition politicians saying they spent four hours of the launch discussing him.

“I saw some people meeting, saying they are forming a party. Yet, in the four hours they spent talking, all they discussed was William Ruto. Is the party they are forming called William Ruto? So, your agenda, your plan, and your vision is William Ruto?” he posed.

President Ruto termed the outfit as cons urging them to look for an agenda to tell Kenyans instead of discussing him.

“I want to tell those people and inform Kenyans that those talking about William Ruto have not been sent by me. They are conmen. Let them look for a party name to use and try to come up with an agenda. Otherwise, they will fail,” Ruto added.

He further warned Gachagua and other opposition leaders to shun tribalism and tell Kenyans their alternative plan.

“Please, the price of tribalism has dropped significantly do not try to sell tribalism. Find a real agenda to present to the people. Tell us what your alternative plan is. Or are you just planning demonstrations? Since when is protesting a job that someone can get paid for?”

While speaking during the launch of PLP on Thursday, Gachagua said the Head of State hoodwinked Kenyans into electing him in 2022.

“Ever since I was born, I have never seen a liar like Ruto. This guy looks you straight in the eye and lies without hesitation. Many people from home have blamed me, saying I'm the one who brought him to them,” Gachagua stated.

He also claimed that there are plans within the government to have him arrested following his remarks in Meru where he alleged that there was a plot to remove Chief Justice Martha Koome from office.

"The other day I said that they should leave Martha Koome or there would be consequences and they wanted to arrest me,” Gachagua claimed.
