Two police vehicles have been torched after Majengo residents staged a protest on Wednesday, March 5 morning, following the death of a 17-year-old boy.
The boy who was a form three student was shot dead during a police operation on Tuesday night in Majengo.
According to reports, police officers had stopped a group of youths for a random search on suspicion of drug trafficking.
However, a targeted suspect who was part of the group raised an alarm and called for help from another group that was approaching the scene.
The group reportedly attacked and chased the officers, forcing one of the officers to open fire for protection.

As a result, a 17-year-old was shot in the head and succumbed to his injuries moments after being rushed to the hospital.
The incident angered the Majengo residents who took to the streets to protest against the police.
The irate residents lit bonfires and barricaded roads in the area, bringing business to a standstill in Gikomba market.
A section of the protestors stormed the area chief’s office and set it on fire before torching two police vehicles and houses belonging to the police.
Additional police officers have been deployed to the scene to prevent the situation from escalating.
In videos and photos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, the officers threw teargas canisters at the protestors to disperse them, however, they were met with resistance from stone-throwing protesters.
The police are yet to issue a statement on the chaos in the Majengo area.
