Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has criticized Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka over his claims of betrayal following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ODM leader Raila Odinga and President William Ruto.
In a statement on Sunday, March 9, Nyong’o dismissed Kalonzo’s discontent, arguing that the Wiper leader had been engaging in political meetings without consulting his allies.
Nyong'o pointed out Kalonzo's recent meeting with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other politicians including DAP-K Party leader Eugene Wamalwa and People's Liberation Party leader Martha Koome.
"Kalonzo’s discontent is that Azimio was left out. In that regard, therefore, Raila betrayed Azimio. In the meantime, the same Kalonzo has been meeting with all kinds of characters, including Rigathi Gachagua, without consulting us at all. But we never complained. We took it as his democratic right to do so," the statement read.

Nyong'o further challenged Kalonzo to first familiarize himself with the content of the agreement before criticizing it.
"Kalonzo could acquaint himself better in the court of conscience if he reads the content of the MoU before he condemns it having been signed by the two parties.
"The MoU commits the partners to build a much stronger democratic political culture in which all parties and movements, notwithstanding their 'base of support,' will build the Kenyan nation together," the statement added.
Despite his remarks, Nyong’o noted that Kalonzo still had a chance to engage Raila and Ruto in dialogue for the benefit of the country.
"There is therefore still room for Kalonzo Musyoka to seek to dialogue with our two leaders to work for the future of our nation," the statement concluded.
This comes a day after Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga dismissed betrayal claims against Raila, instead terming his move a step toward national unity.
“We immensely support Raila Odinga and President Ruto’s efforts to unite the country so that all citizens can benefit. I have seen those saying this is betrayal; how can unity be betrayal?” she posed.
Wanga who also serves as ODM National Chairperson defended Raila’s decision, emphasizing that it was made in the best interest of the country.
“Yesterday, Raila gave us the lead and told us to enter into the broad-based government and support President Ruto’s administration, and this was not for selfish reasons but for the unity of Kenyans,” she added.
