The government has issued a stern warning to those instigating violence following the recent inter-communal skirmishes along the Narok-Kisii border.
Speaking after a meeting with leaders from the affected communities on Monday, March 10, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen assured residents that decisive action had been taken to restore order.
“I have directed schools and health centers that had been closed because of the security situation to re-open immediately and security to be beefed up to ensure safety,” he stated.
The Interior CS added, “The security personnel on the ground are under instruction to apprehend anyone found carrying weapons in the area and those fanning animosity between the two communities."

Additionally, in a bid to find long-term solutions following the clashes, a meeting in the affected area has been set for Friday.
"This afternoon I met a section of leaders from the two communities. We resolved to hold two meetings this Friday in the affected area to kickstart the peace-building process," he further stated.
Recently, inter-communal skirmishes erupted along the Narok-Kisii border, leading to casualties, property destruction and heightened tensions in the region.
Over the past week, at least four individuals have lost their lives due to the clashes, with two fatalities reported in the last two days.
Additionally, several people have sustained injuries from arrow attacks and are receiving medical treatment.
The violence has also resulted in the torching of houses and the destruction of crops, notably sugarcane plantations.
