Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has declared Monday, March 31, a public holiday.
Through a special Gazette Notice dated Friday, March 28, the CS detailed that the holiday would mark Idd-ul-Fitr.
"It is notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares that Monday, the 31st March 2025, shall be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul Fitr," read the notice in part.
Idd-ul Fitr is celebrated by muslins around the world to mark an end of Ramadhan.

Muslims around the world have been observing Ramadhan through prayer, fasting and service to the community.
Following the gazettement, schools, public offices and other institutions are expected to remain closed on Monday.
Banks, on the other hand, are expected to be open half day.
The national holiday declaration came days after President William Ruto hosted Muslim leaders at State House for Iftar.
At the event, Ruto acknowledged that freedom of worship in Kenya, adding that the government would be keen to safeguard the freedoms enjoyed in the country.
“I am very proud as president of this country that I lead a religious nation, and I want to tell you that we must never take it for granted that we have the freedom of worship in Kenya and that we can worship God however we want,” he stated.
