Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has announced he would not run for the Mbeere North Parliamentary seat.
Speaking on Friday April 4, Muturi said it would be wrong for him to go back to being an MP after he served as the National Assembly Speaker for ten years.
“Having been speaker, I think in fairness, it would be wrong for me to go back as a member of Parliament to the same house that I presided over for ten years, leave me out of it,” said Muturi.
The former CS also said he is not interested in running for the Embu Gubernatorial seat.
Muturi claimed that President Ruto’s bloggers have been pushing a narrative that he is aiming for the Embu Governorship.

“I have said since 2017 that I am not interested in the position of Governor of Embu County, this should put the matter to rest, some of the bloggers of the President have been trying to push a narrative that I am trying to create room to run for the office of Governor of Embu,” Muturi added.
His remarks come after Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku was nominated to be the Public Service Cabinet Secretary
Ruku is expected to resign as an MP before being vetted for the position in the National Assembly.
Muturi also said he has no problem with the nomination of Ruku saying that he was the one who brough him up politically.
“I don’t have a problem with Ruku because I am the one who has brought him up. He stated politics quite early, immediately after university. In 2002, he ran for councilor and since then I have known him,” Muturi remarked.
